Amanda and David's September Wedding
Amanda and David were wed on the last day of September in an Art Deco gymnasium in the bride’s hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They were surrounded by their loved ones as they said I do for forever and a day…and then they danced the night away!
Their wedding vision was a fun yet refined celebration, with an emphasis on fine art garden-style flowers. Elegant decor details of lush centerpieces, chiavari chairs and candlelight were important to transform the venue into more of a ballroom atmosphere.
Amanda has always loved pairing pink and orange together—it’s a bit of a signature color combination for her! We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play up these warm tones with the season’s most glorious flowers. Bringing in a bit of blue through the invitations and table linens complemented the dark blue velvet drapes on the mezzanine and stage of the venue.
Creating a focal point in the gymnasium was important to us when dreaming up their wedding flowers. Because the venue is so spacious, we wanted a statement flower installation to draw the eye across the room when guests entered. The luxurious floral arch because the perfect backdrop not only for the ceremony, but also family portraits, the cake cutting, first dance and the sweetheart table. Of course our design was foam free, made with water sources tucked into our chicken wire and metal framework.
Amanda and David’s ingredients were truly stunning: cosmos, dahlias, garden roses, hydrangeas, Japanese anemone, lisianthus, phlox, scabiosa and tuberose with unique foliage of abelia, aromantic aster, clematis vine, crape myrtle, passionflower vine, privet, rosemary, nandina, and scented geranium. All of the foliage was grown in Missouri, with most of it foraged from our property. We were able to source locally grown flowers from five small flower farms. The beauty was truly unmatched!
