Norah and Nick's June Wedding at Wild Carrot

When Norah and Nick first reached out to us regarding wedding flowers for their city celebration, I was immediately captivated by their unique vision and story. Currently residing in Washington, D.C. with family all over the world, Nick and Norah chose St. Louis for their destination wedding weekend—fittingly St. Louis, Missouri, is where they met at college. During our first conversation, I loved everything they were telling me—Wild Carrot as their location, vintage dishes and colorful goblets from their caterer Seed Sprout Spoon, colorful seasonal blooms (hopefully from us!).

Fast forward to our walk-through and consultation in early 2024 when we got to meet in person. Wow! Meeting Norah and Nick in real life made me all the more excited for their summer wedding. We met at a sweet nearby cafe and went over details on the patio. We chatted about table linen colors and the cherry blossoms back in D.C. and then headed over to Wild Carrot to envision the space for their celebration. Dreaming together about what their day would look like was truly such fun.

If you follow our work closely, you might not believe our flowers for Norah and Nick were seasonal and American grown. Icelandic poppies with dahlias—how can that be? We got really lucky and this is a bit of a unicorn wedding. The very first dahlias of the season graced Nick’s boutonniere and Norah’s bouquet—grown in Missouri from overwintered tubers. The Icelandic poppies were the last of a crop from a flower farmer friend in Southern Illinois—we made the extra trip to pick them up the week of the wedding. In addition to those, we included peonies grown in Vermont and Wisconsin, along with English garden roses grown in Missouri. Also—the first of the cosmos with the last of the sweet peas—all of it was magical! The orange lilies are from our property and bloomed earlier than ever before—I love their unexpected shape and the subtle drama they added to the tablescapes and floral installation.

We also provided the candle decor for Norah and Nick (I’m a big fan of real flame candles for gatherings). The ambience at Wild Carrot with the candles was divine. I love all the photos Vein & Vessel took—the shadowplay of the flowers at the end of the night is sreal artistry!

It was a such a joy and honor to craft Norah and Nick’s wedding flowers. I hope you enjoy this glimpse of their celebration!
